    OF SUSTAINABILITY

    For us, sustainability is more than a trend: it's central to our mission.

    Since our foundation in 1889, we have run our company in harmony with nature.

    Ecological and social responsibility has become a core pillar at Rotho. We consider it essential to continue deepening our understanding of sustainability every year, prioritizing it at each new milestone. Sustainability is a journey and our goal is a future in which it is taken for granted.

  • A JOURNEY TO ZERO WASTE

    We currently see the biggest developments in these six areas:
  • As a plastics manufacturer, we are committed to using climate-neutral, high-quality plastics and using resources responsibly.
    Sustainability is not a trend for us. As early as 2009, we laid the foundation for using recycled materials with the Müli waste bin and the first Paso. All of our products are already 100% recyclable.

    WHERE WE STAND

    • In 2021, 35% of products were made from recycled material
    • All products are 100% recyclable
    • Good Plastics:

    No use of harmful additives such as BPA

    • Awarded with sustainability certificates such as the Blue Angel and Ecoloop

    TARGET BY 2030

    By the end of 2022, 40% of products will be made from recycled material.
    By 2030 we will use recycled and environmentally neutral plastics for all production, which can be 100% recycled after use.

    • We continue to develop products that support our customers in their everyday lives. Our focus will increasingly be on long-life concepts that have a positive effect on the environment and the wallet.
  • Turn waste into gold

    Vegetable and fruit leftovers = garbage? No way!

    Raw fruit and vegetables are perfect for the compost and should therefore always be separated from the residual waste - whether for your garden or the organic waste bin. Did you know that composting food waste reduces emissions and enriches soil for gardening?

  • Sustainable action has a high priority at Rotho. We continue to consistently use renewable energy sources. We have a long-term energy management system that we use to improve our energy efficiency.

    • 100% green electricity in all our production plants
    • Photovoltaic systems in five out of six locations and on more than half of our roofs
    • Heat recovery for heating
      the building
    • Motion detectors, light measurement and the use of LED lamps
    • Energy management system with regular checks

    • We will integrate Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2026.
    • We will create a corporate culture in which everyone feels welcome, accepted and valued: a culture that values the old and develops the new; a culture of joy that celebrates and promotes diversity.
  • We rely on sustainable packaging solutions both stationary and online. New concepts, materials and innovations to find a sustainable solution for packaging material and to reduce it as much as possible.

    Our shipping packaging already consists of at least 85% recycled material and is 100% recyclable.

    1. Space-saving packaging

    • Launch of a sustainable product packaging strategy and implementation of recycled packaging material for POS implementation by 2024
    • Our product packaging will be made from up to 100% recycled material by 2030
  • Do you have boxes left over from your last order? No reason to just throw them away!

    Our boxes can be repurposed and reused in a number of ways.

    For example, you can create eco-friendly colorful figures for your children or a device to fold clothes.

  • We want to make our contribution to climate protection and have therefore decided to become climate neutral by 203. Together with ClimatePartner, the climate neutrality project started in 2022 by determining and reducing our CO₂ emissions.

    We are on the way to CO₂ neutrality.
